About Amanda
Welcome! I’m a licensed therapist with nearly a decade of experience in trauma and abuse recovery and its impacts, including dissociation, anxiety, panic attacks, relational concerns, personality disorders, and a loss of connection to self or others.
I discovered my passion for this field while working as an Advocate at The Center for Sexual Assault Survivors and the Avalon Center for domestic abuse survivors in Virginia. In these settings, I witnessed firsthand the profound need for specialized, trauma-informed support for survivors and their families. These experiences inspired me to pursue my Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) at Columbia University, where I had the privilege of working with Holocaust survivors, individuals experiencing psychosis, and those with personality disorders—each of whom taught me invaluable lessons about resilience. Since then, I’ve gained experience across all levels of care, including PHP, IOP, residential, and inpatient settings.
In 2021, I transitioned to private practice, where I’ve cherished the opportunity to walk alongside clients for longer periods of their healing journey. Along the way, I’ve pursued extensive training in evidence-based approaches such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), all while remaining deeply curious about the intricate ways the brain and body work together to heal.
In addition to individual therapy, I offer interpersonal process groups where clients can explore their relational patterns in real time. Group work provides a unique opportunity to better understand how you show up with others, deepen emotional awareness, and experience new ways of connecting. I draw from a modern analytic lens to help group members gain insight, experiment with new ways of relating, and build more fulfilling relationships both within and outside the therapy room.
Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of meaningful progress. My approach prioritizes creating an environment rooted in compassion, warmth, and trust—one where you feel safe to explore, process, and grow. Together, we’ll navigate challenges and work toward a sense of wholeness.
Outside of therapy, you’ll find me on long runs, practicing yoga, writing, reading, sharing endless photos of our cats with my husband, or planning my next adventure.
